George Booth V 1926, cartoonist, he worked on the comic strip Spot in 1956. He pursued cartooning full time, beginning a successful phase in 1969 with his first New Yorker cartoon sale. He also created the comic strip Local Item in 1986. Over time, his cartoons have become an iconic feature of the magazine. In a doodler's style, they feature everymen beset by modern complexity, goofballs perplexing their spouses, cats, and very often a fat dog. One signature element is a ceiling light bulb on a cord pulled out of vertical by another cord attached to an electrical appliance such as a toaster.

Don "Sonny" Strait 1965, voice actor, works for anime series of FUNimation Entertainment. He has provided voices for a number of English language versions of Japanese anime films. He and his friend William (Bill) Foster made a comic called Muff Dyver and the Sex Gophers From Hell and, after being noticed by some local celebrities in the small college town Denton, Texas, they went on to make more such as The Atomic Punk and Mr. Average. Besides his voice acting career, Strait has also penciled several comic strips as well as two stories for the Elfquest series. Strait is currently under contract to publish a manga titled We Shadows with Tokyopop. The first volume debuted in August 2007 and was nominated shortly after for YALSA's Great Graphic Novels for Teens list in 2008.

Joe Giella 1928, comic book artist best known as a DC Comics inker during the late 1950s and 1960s, Starting circa 1948, Giella inked the Flash, Green Lantern, Black Canary and other characters under editor Julius Schwartz, During the early-1950s lull in superheroes, Giella inked Westerns penciled by Alex Toth (including the feature "Sierra Smith") and Gene Colan (on the series Hopalong Cassidy, in 1956, Giella began inking science-fiction stories, including the feature "Adam Strange" in Strange Adventures, and Batman stories pencilled by the likes of Sheldon Moldoff. Giella also assisted on such King Features syndicated comic strips as Flash Gordon (inking Dan Barry in 1970), and The Phantom, on which he worked for 17 years (sometimes helping Sy Barry with pencilling when deadlines became too consuming for Barry). In the early 1990s, Giella became the artist on the Mary Worth daily and Sunday newspaper strip.[1]

Warren Kremer 1921, comics writer and artist best-known for his creation of the Harvey Comics characters Richie Rich, Hot Stuff the Little Devil and Stumbo the Giant. Kremer then did layout, lettering, and illustrations for pulp and aviation magazines for ten years. He gradually took on more comics work in Ace Publications, his first title being "Hap Hazard". He was the top artist at Harvey, where he worked for 35 years mostly as an Art Editor. After Harvey ended publication in 1982, Kremer created and/or drew several characters for Marvel Comics' Star Comics line, including Count Duckula, Ewoks, Planet Terry, Royal Roy, and Top Dog. Warren's son, Richard W.Kremer was who Richie Rich was named.

Tom DeFalco 1950, comic book writer, well-known for his association with Marvel Comics and in particular for his work with Spider-Man. He began his comics career as an editorial assistant with Archie Comics in summer 1972. During his tenure with Archie Comics, he "initiated and developed the Archie Comics Digest Series. DeFalco was soon writing for the flagship title Archie as well as for other titles including Scooby-Doo and Josie and the Pussycats. He later joined Marvel Comics, with whom he would spend the next twenty years of his career. One of his earliest non-Archie credits was as writer, however, was with the "Distinguished Competition", on the final (8th) issue of DC's aborted "Swords and Science" title Starfire (Oct 1977) and a back-up Cain story in House of Mystery before moving to Marvel, where he wrote a couple of issues of Avengers and the final five issues of Machine Man (plus a Machine Man issue of Marvel Team-Up, before launching Dazzler in March 1981. (DeFalco later wrote a Machine Man limited series in 1984, with art by Herb Trimpe and Barry Windsor-Smith). DeFalco was the chief designer and author for Dazzler, and later became one of the most popular writers for the Spider-Man comic book series while at the same time rising through the editorial ranks. While writing Dazzler, he penned a couple of issues of Marvel Team-Up, before taking over from Dennis O'Neil as editor of that title, as well as assuming editorial duties on Ghost Rider, What If...? and the Spider-Man titles, which he edited throughout the early 1980s. DeFalco was also "part of the creative team that introduced the Transformers to the American public" in 1984. In August 1983, DeFalco wrote the first four issues of the third series of Red Sonja. After co-writing two issues of Fantastic Four (#301-2; April-May 1987) with Roger Stern (DeFalco would return to writing the title between 1991 and 1996), DeFalco took over writing duties on Thor from Walt Simonson with #383 in September, before succeeding Jim Shooter as Editor-in-Chief effective from comics cover-dated November 1987. Alex Toth 1928, cartoonist, comic book artist, Toth’s work began in the American comic book industry, but is best known for his animation designs for Hanna-Barbera throughout the 1960s and 1970s. His work included Super Friends, Space Ghost, The Herculoids, and Birdman. Toth launched his career at the age of 15, illustrating true stories for Heroic magazine through Steve Douglas’ Famous Funnies shop. Although he initially aimed to do newspaper strips (“It was my dream to do what Caniff, Raymond, and Foster had done”), he found the industry “dying” and instead moved into comic books. In 1947, Toth was hired by Sheldon Mayer at National/DC Comics. He worked there for five years, drawing the Golden Age versions of The Flash, Dr. Mid-Nite, Green Lantern and The Atom. For a brief time in 1950, Toth was able to realize his dream of working on newspaper comic strips by ghost illustrating Casey Ruggles with Warren Tufts. In 1952 Toth ended his contract with DC Comics and moved to California. It is during that time that he worked on crime, war and romance comics for Standard Comics. In 1954, Toth was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Tokyo, Japan. While in Japan, he wrote and drew his own weekly adventure strip, Jon Fury, for the base paper, Depot Diary. Returning to the United States in 1956, Toth settled in the Los Angeles area and worked primarily for Dell Comics until 1960. In 1960, Toth became art director for the Space Angel animated science fiction show. Carrabotta was one of the few Atlas artists to regularly sign his work

Jim McDermott 1960, artist who has illustrated for animation, magazines and comic books. His work for comic books has appeared in GrimJack, Omega Men and Heavy Metal. Video Games & Computer Entertainment and TurboPlay featured his cover paintings and interior illustrations of video game characters.

Kevin VanHook 1965, comic book artist, writer, In comics, VanHook is best known for his work on Bloodshot from Valiant Comics. He also wrote the Flash Gordon comic strip in the 1990s. In 2002, VanHook Studios merged with Film Roman, the animation company best known for animating The Simpsons TV series. During his stint as a visual effects artist and supervisor, VanHook has worked on such films as Miss Congeniality, Hart's War, Daredevil, I, Robot and many others. VanHook also returned to comics in 2008 to write Superman and Batman vs. Vampires and Werewolves at DC Comics, as well as the Oracle mini-series that forms a part of the Battle for the Cowl storyline which deals with the aftermath of Batman R.I.P..

Michael Lance "Mike" Wieringo 1963, comic book artist, best known for his work on DC Comics' The Flash and Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four. Wieringo gained prominence working with writer Mark Waid on DC Comics' super-speedster series The Flash vol. 2, penciling all but two issues from #80–92 (Early Sept. 1993 – July 1994), plus #0 (Oct. 1994); he additionally penciled covers through #100, #118–124, and 128–129, and for Flash 80-Page Giant #2 (April 1999). Wieringo co-created, with Waid, the young speedster Bart Allen, a.k.a. Impulse, in The Flash vol. 2, #91 (cameo) and #92 (first full appearance). Wieringo followed this with a short run on Robin, another DC title, with writer Chuck Dixon, while concurrently penciling Marvel Comics' Rogue #1–4 (Jan.–April 1995), a miniseries starring that X-Men superheroine. During this period, he also penciled occasional Marvel covers and small miscellaneous jobs for that company. After having penciled the Spider-Boy #1 (April 1996) one-shot, which combined Spider-Man and Superboy as part of the Marvel Comics-DC Comics intercompany crossover series of one-shots Amalgam Comics, Wieringo became the regular artist on Marvel's The Sensational Spider-Man, beginning with issue #8 (Sept. 1996). Wieringo's next major project was at Image Comics, where he reteamed with Dezago on their creator-owned fantasy series Tellos. The comic, a coming-of-age adventure sent in a magical, piratical world, ran 10 issues (May 1999 – Nov. 2000). Wieringo returned to DC Comics for all but one issue of Adventures of Superman #592–600 (July 2001 – March 2002), with writer Joe Casey. He then returned to Marvel and reunited with writer Mark Waid on Fantastic Four. Beginning with #51 (March 2002), Wieringo eventually drew 27 issues of Waid's 36 issues, wrapping up their run with #524, by which time the previously relaunched series had returned to its original numbering.

He could arguably be the world's first third-generation television writer. His grandfather was a successful sitcom writer in the 1950s and '60s on "The Donna Reed Show" (1958) and "Leave It to Beaver" (1957), and his father wrote for the likes of "The Dick Cavett Show" (1968), "Alice" (1976) and "Benson" (1979). Paul Frees 1920, actor/voice actor, Frees worked extensively with at least nine of the major animation production companies of the 20th century: Walt Disney Studios, Walter Lantz Studios, UPA, Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, MGM Studios, DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, Jay Ward Productions and Rankin/Bass. Some of Paul Frees' most memorable voices were for various Disney projects. Frees voiced Disney's Professor Ludwig Von Drake in eighteen episodes of the Disney anthology television series,[1] beginning with the first episode of the newly-renamed Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color on September 24, 1961. Frees narrated a number of Disney cartoons, including the Disney educational short film Donald in Mathmagic Land. This short originally aired in the same television episode as Von Drake's first appearance. Mark Spears 1975, comic book artist, known for his work on the DC Legacy card set for DC Comics and for a line of Marvel Comics Statues based on his artwork produced by Corgi International Limited. Mark Spears' first published comic art was in Ultiman #1 under the Image Comics brand in 2002. After the release of Ultiman #1, he was employed managing a new upstart 3D animation studio. After many years working in 3D animation, he started working in the comic field again in 2006. Since then he has worked for DC Comics on the DC Legacy Card set as well as creating Batman statues under the DC License. Spears has also worked for Marvel Comics on the Women of Marvel card set as well as creating a line of Marvel Statues based on his artwork.

John Workman 1950, comic book artist, writer, colorist, designer, He is known for his frequent partnerships with writer/artist Walter Simonson, and also for lettering the entire run of Grant Morrison/Rachel Pollack's Doom Patrol (DC Comics). Workman was art director of Heavy Metal magazine from 1977 to 1984. His comics art, writing, lettering, coloring, and design work are evident throughout issues from that period. From 1977-1983, Workman lettered comics occasionally (mostly for DC); he has been working steadily as a freelance letterer since 1983. Some of the regular titles he has lettered include First Comics' Grimjack from 1984 to 1987, Marvel's Fantastic Four from 1985 to 1989, Cosmic Odyssey in 1988–1989, Fantastic Force from 1994–1996, The Incredible Hulk from 1997–1999, and Spider-Girl from 2000–2002. For DC Comics, Workman lettered Doom Patrol from 1987–1995, the Legion of Super-Heroes from 1991–1993, Michael Moorcock's Multiverse in 1997–1998, and Aquaman in 1999–2000. Workman handled lettering chores for Topps Comics' X-Files titles in the late 1990s, and Image Comics' Savage Dragon from 2003–2005.Recently Workman has lettered much of the Marvel, DC, and Wildstorm work of Tommy Lee Edwards, including Gemini Blood (1996–1997), The Question (2005), Bullet Points (2007), and Marvel 1985 (2008) for which he won the 2009 Harvey Award for lettering.

Virginia Robyn Hey 1952, actress, known for her role as Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan on science fiction television program Farscape.

Joan M. Winston 1931, actress, was one of a group of people known as "The Committee" who organized the first Star Trek convention. She is also the author of the 1977 reference book The Making of the Trek Conventions. She gives details of her work with the original convention, as well as her visit to the set as the last episode, "Turnabout Intruder" was being filmed, in the book Star Trek Lives!, which she co-wrote with Jacqueline Lichtenberg and Sondra Marshak. She has also been interviewed by William Shatner in order to contribute to Get a Life!, and can be seen in the documentary Trekkies 2. Winston continued to attend and speak at Star Trek conventions until 2006, making her last appearance at Shore Leave in Baltimore, Maryland.

Sid Green 1906, comic book artist known for his work for a host of publishers from the 1940s to 1970s, most prominently DC Comics, where as an inker on series including Batman, Green Lantern, Justice League of America and The Atom he helped to define the company's house style for its 1960s Silver Age superheroes. Greene has been tentatively identified on stories in issues of Fiction House's Planet Comics and Fight Comics cover-dated as early as April 1940.[4] His first signed work is as penciler-inker of a 10-page story starring the superhero the Patriot in The Human Torch #5[a] (Summer 1941)

Rick Griffin 1944, one of the leading designers of psychedelic posters in the 1960s. He was also a contributor to the underground comix movement whose work appeared regularly in Zap Comix. Griffin was closely identified with the Grateful Dead, having designed some of their best known posters and record jackets. He was also known for his work within the surfing subculture, including his comic strip about a surfer named "Murphy".

Linda Lessman Reinhold 1948, letterer/colorist, Linda began work at Marvel Comics both on staff and free-lancing as colorist in the early 70's. Upon meeting Barry Windsor-Smith he asked her to go into business with him publishing his art, and so The Gorblimey Press was born in 1973 with Linda as partner doing everything except the art. Barry and Linda worked and lived together for 11 years but by the summer of '84 the relation had deteriorated to the point of Linda moving to Illinois. Linda interviewed at First Comics (then located In Evanston) Nov., '84 and went home with 22 pages of Bill Reinhold original art under her arm to letter. She soon phased into coloring for First full time and moved to Evanston in June, 1985. Thus began her relationship with her husband-to-be, Bill. Linda continues to be both wife and inking assistant with Bill to this day.
