Birthdays

Neal Adams 1941, comic book artist, comic book and commercial artist known for helping to create some of the definitive modern imagery of the DC Comics characters Superman, Batman, and Green Arrow; as the co-founder of the graphic design studio Continuity Associates; and as a creators-rights advocate who helped secure a pension and recognition for Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. He also worked for Peter Pan Records throughout the 1970s, contributing to a number of their sleeves and accompanying comic releases. In their Star Trek series of records and books, he was the artist and co-author of the 4th story, "The Time Stealer", along with Cary Bates.
Dave Berg 1920, cartoonist, most noted for his work in Mad. In 1961 he started the magazine's "Lighter Side" feature.
Scott Peters 1930, actor, USAF sergeant with bullhorn - Invasion of the Saucer Men (1957), Sgt. Lee Carter - The Amazing Colossal Man (1957), Mac - Attack of the Puppet People (1958).
David Merrill Richards 1946, actor, Dockmaster - Star Trek: Enterprise (1 episode, "The Seventh", 2002).
Len Wein 1948, comic book artist, He worked for Marvel Comics for a number of years and is best known for being a co-creator of DC Comics Swamp Thing and helping revive X-Men for Marvel. He authored eight issues of the Gold Key Star Trek comics in 1971 and 1972.

Felecia M. Bell 1960, actress, Jennifer Sisko - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (3 episodes, 1993-1996), Judge Abigail Ross - Smallville (1 episode, "Whisper", 2004).


Events

1964, Star Trek draft proposal presented to NBC.
1987, Scenes on board the alien vessel, including a deleted scene of the alien touching Riker and Troi with it's tentacles, are filmed for TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint". The deleted scene goes as follows : While "on board" the alien lifeform, tentacles reach out of the wall and grabbed for Deanna Troi and Riker. The producers decided these special effects looked horrible and removed the scenes from the episode.
1991, Star Trek:TNG, "Galaxy's Child" airs.
1993, Star Trek:TNG, "Timescape" airs.
1995, Star Trek:DS9, "Facets" airs.
1998, Babylon 5 Episode 96 - "Day of the Dead" first aired
2001, Scenes for the Star Trek: Enterprise pilot episode "Broken Bow" were filmed on location in Bakersfield.
