| Carl Gafford 1953, colorist (and occasional editor) who has worked for several decades in the comics industry. His career to date has spanned several publishers, including Marvel Comics, DC Comics and Topps Comics. Gafford began coloring The Legion of Super-Heroes with #288, and continued on that run for 7 years without missing an issue, totaling 125 regular issues, giants, mini-series and two different Legion books a month for a year. |
| Nelson Slade Bond 1908, science fiction writer, Bond was a pioneer in early science fiction and fantasy. His published fiction is mainly short stories, most of which appeared in pulp magazines in the 1930s and 1940s. Many were published in Blue Book magazine. He is noted for his "Lancelot Biggs" series of stories and for his "Meg the Priestess" tales, which introduced one of the first powerful female characters in science fiction. |
| Christopher Rule 1895, comic book artist active from the 1940s through at least 1960, and best-known as the first regular Marvel Comics inker for legendary comics artist Jack Kirby. Rule's earliest confirmed story work is penciling the seven-page "With Tears in My Soul" in My Own Romance #6 (June 1949). Rule continued to ink romance stories over such pencilers as Klein, Sekowsky, and Shores in such comics as Faithful, Love Classics, and Love Tales. He expanded into other forms with the mythologically-based superheroine Venus, inking Werner Roth on a story in Venus #10 (July 1950), and with horror via the story "Hands of Murder", penciled by Sekowsky, in Adventures Into Terror #4 (June 1951) from Marvel's 1950s iteration, Atlas Comics. |
| George O'Hanlon 1912, actor, Television viewers recognize him as the voice of George Jetson in Hanna-Barbera's 1962 prime-time animated television series The Jetsons and its 1985 revival. He also wrote stories for television series in the 1960s such as Petticoat Junction, 77 Sunset Strip and even wrote episodes for HB's The Flintstones. It is interesting to note that he also auditioned for the role of Fred Flintstone but lost to Alan Reed, however he was remembered when it was time to cast The Jetsons.
