V, 'Mazing Man, XXXenophile, Waterworld, Zardoz, Winnie-the-Pooh, Tarzan, The Six Million Dollar Man, Datalore.

Today is the birthday of the author of Winnie-the-Pooh, AA Milne. Some trivia for you is, Milne named the character Winnie-the-Pooh after a teddy bear owned by his son, Christopher Robin Milne, who was the basis for the character Christopher Robin. Christopher's toys also lent their names to most of the other characters, except for Owl and Rabbit, as well as the Gopher character, who was added in the Disney version. Christopher Milne had named his toy bear after Winnie, a Canadian black bear which he often saw at London Zoo, and "Pooh", a swan they had met while on holiday.

Swift was an early television star who hosted The Popeye Show from September 10, 1956 to September 23, 1960, until he was forced to leave the program. The reason for his dismissal from "The Popeye Show" was creative differences with station management. Swift did the majority of the voices in Rankin/Bass's Mad Monster Party?, credited as Alan Swift in the movie's credits. He supplied most of the character voices for the NBC Howdy Doody Show, and when Buffalo Bob Smith, who himself did the voice of the lead puppet character Howdy Doody and had many times proclaimed that "nobody else could do Howdy" suffered a heart attack, Swift took home some recordings over the weekend, came back on Monday and did Howdy's voice for more than a year. Before taking his stage name he was born Ira Stadlen.
