| James Benjamin Blish 1921, Blish wrote science fiction criticism under the pen name 'William Atheling, Jr.' While he was well known within the SF field, he's best known outside the field for novelizations of the original 'Star Trek' episodes. Two sci-fi TV shows he wrote for were Captain Video and His Video Rangers (1949) and The Secret Files of Captain Video (1953). Blish was responsible for coining the term "gas giant" in the story "Solar Plexus" as it appeared in the anthology Beyond Human Ken when describing Jupiter. |
