One of the voices that raised us through TV was born today. Alot don't know this but Mel Blanc was the original voice of the animated Superman.

Birthdays

Kevin Eastman 1962, comic book artist, best known as the creator (together with Peter Laird) of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Eastman is also the current owner, editor and publisher of the magazine Heavy Metal.
Mort Meskin 1916, comic book artist, Meskin went to work for Eisner & Iger where he did pencils for Fiction House's "Sheena, Queen of the Jungle" in Jumbo Comics. In 1941, Meskin started at National Comics, drawing stories for the characters Vigilante, Wildcat, Starman and Johnny Quick. During his time at National, Meskin also did work for Marvel Comics, Gleason and Nedor Comics, Spark, and other publishers. At Nedor he worked on the Black Terror as well as on the Fighting Yank together with Jerry Robinson. In 1949 he left National and joined the Simon & Kirby studio where he worked on a variety of titles such as Boys' Ranch and Prize Comics. He returned to National in 1956, where he created the feature "Mark Merlin" and also worked on a large number of war, science fiction and romance titles.

Keir Dullea 1936, actor, Dr. Dave Bowman - 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Devon - The Starlost (16 episodes, 1973-1974), Dave Bowman - 2010 (1984), Secretary Bayer - Alien Hunter (2003).
Mel Blanc 1908, voice actor, Blanc is best remembered for his work with Warner Bros. during the "Golden Age of American animation" (and later for Hanna-Barbera television productions) as the voice of such well-known characters as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Sylvester the Cat, Tweety Bird, Foghorn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam, Wile E. Coyote, Woody Woodpecker, Barney Rubble, Mr. Spacely, Speed Buggy, Captain Caveman, Heathcliff, and hundreds of others. Having earned the nickname “The Man of a Thousand Voices,” Blanc is regarded as one of the most influential people in the voice-acting industry. 1/24/61: Was in a near-fatal car accident while many of the shows that required his services, most importantly "The Flintstones" (1960), were still in production. He did the voices of his characters in both his home bed and his hospital bed, in a full body cast and with all his "Flintstones" co-stars and recording equipment crowded into the same room.

Freddie E. Williams II 1977, comic book artist, Best known for his work on DC Comics' Robin, and for working almost entirely in Digital format. While attending the 2005 San Diego Comic-Con Williams submitted a portfolio to the DC talent search. As a result he was hired to do a Seven Soldiers issue featuring Mister Miracle, and some fill in issues for Aquaman. In 2006 Williams signed an exclusive contract with DC comics. He became the regular artist on Robin from issue 149 in 2006. In early 2008 he started illustrating the Flash comic.
