Some of my favorite actors were born today. As it turns out both John Schneider (Luke Duke, Jonathon Kent) and Gerald McRaney (Rick Simon, Johnston Green) are sharing a birthday. I really enjoyed their roles in The Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville, Simon and Simon, and Jericho.
You may also think I'm off my game when you see I'm marking the birth of silent screen actress, Mark Pickford. Although she never did sci-fi she did however appear as Little Annie Rooney in the movie of the same name. Some of you will recall that Little Annie Rooney was a comic strip about a young orphaned girl who traveled about with her dog, Zero. King Features launched the strip on January 10, 1927. The strip's creators over the years included Ed Verdier (1927-28), Ben Batsford (1930), Sundays by Nicholas Afonsky (1934-43), writer Brandon Walsh (1931-53) and Darrel McClure (1930-66). McClure's assistants were Bob Dunn and Fran Matera. The strip lasted from 1927 until 1966 and was read by millions over the years.
Finally, don't forget to look at the events. Although it is a little heavy with Star Trek stuff (sorry), there are a couple other gems in there. Enjoy !!
