Daily Birthdays and Events in Sci-Fi, Comics and related areas

March 30, 2010

Buck Rogers, Spawn, Iron man 2, War of the Worlds, Serenity, Batman, Babylon 5, Gorath, Meteor, The Addams Family, John Astin, Dick Tracy, Aliens.

It's a 2 Buck day today. By that I mean that it is not only the first day, in 1930, that the Buck Rogers Sunday strip began, but coincidentally in 1979 the Buck Rogers in the 25th Century pilot was released for distribution for theatres. It was the good box-office returns which led NBC to commission a full series, which started in September 1979. As some of us remember it starred Gil Gerard as Buck Rogers, and co-starred Erin Gray as Colonel Wilma Deering. As I've mentioned before in the blog, the character of Buck Rogers was originally Anthony Rogers but got changed when it became a comic strip on January 7, 1929.

I would also like to mention that Erin Gray is one of our many guests we have coming to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo on the 24 & 25th of April, 2010. With other guests including Leonard Nimoy, Brent Spiner, Billy Dee Williams, and Malcolm McDowell, it will be a great time.

As always take a look at the others in the list, there is alot of great talent and memories from the past. Enjoy !!
