Birthdays

Archie Goodwin 1937, comic book artist, He worked on a number of comic strips in addition to comic books, and is best known for his Warren and Marvel Comics work. For Warren he was chief writer and editor of landmark horror anthology titles Creepy and Eerie, and for Marvel he set up the creator-owned Epic Comics as well as adapting Star Wars into both comics and newspaper strips.
Michael Hague 1948, illustrator, Among the books he has illustrated are classics such as The Wind in the Willows, The Wizard of Oz, The Hobbit and the stories of Hans Christian Andersen. He is renowned for the intricate and realistic detail he brings to his work, and the rich colors he chooses. Current work includes In the Small, a graphic novel .
Hillary Brooke 1914, actress, Marla Stevens - Lost Continent (1951), Mrs. Mary MacLean - Invaders from Mars (1953). Although she spoke with an English accent, she wasn't British; she was actually from Astoria, New York.
Rosearik Rikki Allen Simons 1970, comic book artist, best known as the voice of GIR in the Nickelodeon animated series, Invader Zim. Simons also co-created and wrote the Robotech: Clone comic series. In addition to his graphic novel and novel work, Simons also paints backgrounds for animation, including Invader Zim and Jackie Chan Adventures. He painted both issues of Jhonen Vasquez’s comic, I Feel Sick.
