Birthdays

Ham Fisher 1900, comic strip writer and cartoonist, best known for his popular, long-run Joe Palooka, which ranked as one of the top five newspaper comics strips during the 1940s.
Bill Vallely 1952, illustrator, writer, He has written and drawn for many comic books including for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Valiant Comics, Omni Comix, Archie Comics, Harvey Comics, Hanna Barbera, and Nintendo Comics System. He has illustrated children's books for Laredo Press, and worked on several animated children's television programs including Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, The Smurfs, Bad Dog, and Tricksters. He was also responsible for co-writing the script of the episode "Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy" of Star Trek: Voyager.
Carson Van Osten 1946, comic book artist, Van Osten became a writer and artist of Disney comics. From 1969 to 1976, he created Mickey Mouse and Goofy comics for the publisher Disney Studio, which produced comics for the European market. Starting in 1976, he was art director for Disney's comic strips department in the 1980s. After that, it seems that he has sporadically worked on new Disney comics, including some covers and the adaptation of the Atlantis: The Lost Empire film.
Richard W. Dorgan 1892, cartoonist, He is remembered as the illustrator of Thorne Smith's first two novels, Biltmore Oswald (1918) and Out o' Luck (1919), as well as for his work as a columnist for Photoplay Magazine and newspaper artist in the 1920s and '30s. Dorgan produced "Not Now," a comic strip for the Adams Newspaper Service. From circa 1930–1932, Dorgan produced the daily panel "Colonel Gilfeather.

Events

1959, The ABC TV network airs the last episode of the Disney-produced TV show, Zorro. ABC cancelled the show because it was cheaper to finance its own shows. 78 episodes were produced.
1961, The NBC TV network debuts the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color show in the USA. The first show is entitled An Adventure in Color, Mathmagic Land. A new character, Ludwig von Drake, is introduced. This show airs the previously released film Donald in Mathmagic Land.
1995, Space: Above and Beyond airs on FOX.
1999, Now and Again airs on CBS.
2007, Journeyman airs on NBC.
