Birthdays

Frank Willard 1893, cartoonist, he was a staff artist with the Chicago Herald (1914-18), where he drew the Sunday kids' page, Tom, Dick and Harry and another strip, Mrs. Pippin's Husband. He next wrote and drew The Outta Luck Club for King Features (1919-23). Created Moon Mullins.
David Mazzucchelli 1960, comic book artist and illustrator, His early work was in superhero comics for Marvel Comics and DC Comics, although he later embarked on a series of acclaimed alternative comics projects. He started at Marvel Comics where, after a few various issues, he became the regular artist on Daredevil. Mazzucchelli collaborated again on the four-issue story Batman: Year One, serialized in issues 404 through 407 of DC Comics' monthly Batman title.
Craig Matthew Thompson 1975, graphic novelist, best known for his 2003 work Blankets. Thompson has received four Harvey Awards, two Eisner Awards, and two Ignatz Awards. In 2007, his cover design for the Menomena album Friend and Foe received a Grammy nomination for Best Recording Package.
